Meet Our Caring Staff

Staff members at Heritage Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. This heritage is of utmost importance to our staff of trained and licensed individuals.


Shawn Snyder operates the business daily and tends to any family matters. Heritage Funeral Home is also proud to have an assistant funeral director and nine dedicated associates to help assist your family as we provide services to you.

Our offices in Andover and El Dorado are staffed and open from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and we are available by phone on Saturdays and Sundays.

Shawn is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the State of Kansas since 2003. He graduated from Kansas City Kansas Community College in 2001 with an Associate's Degree in Mortuary Science. Upon graduating, Shawn began his career working with Livingston Funeral Home in Kingman, KS until 2003. He has since been serving Butler and Sedgwick Counties and the surrounding communities since 2005 and is proud to call the Andover area home, with his wife Ashley (married April 24, 2010) and two daughters, Audra and Breanna, and son, Keith.


Shawn was raised in a western Kansas community with a small-town upbringing. His parents now reside in LaCrosse, KS, and operate funeral homes in LaCrosse and Great Bend, KS.

Doug was born in Wichita and raised in the Goddard, Kansas area. He attended Goddard schools and then Friends University, graduating in 1971. He has lived in the Wichita area all of his life except for 18 years spent in Abilene, Kansas. Doug and his family lived in Abilene from 1985 until 2003, and while there, he worked for the Danner Funeral Home for 10 years. With Doug's parents and in-laws living in Wichita, Doug and his wife decided to return to the Wichita area when their children returned to live in Wichita as well. Doug and his wife Marla, of 35 years, have two children and three grandchildren.

Jean was born in Oklahoma and moved to Wichita as a child. She worked for Via Christi as a nurse until she retired in 2003.


She and her husband, Ernie, have 3 sons, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.


Active with Bible study, church, horses, camping, and bicycling.

Jan was born in Webb City, MO and moved to the Wichita area in the 2nd grade. She graduated from East High in 1967 and went on to study at Butler County Community College. Jan spent 27 years at Wesley Medical Center and retired from their Human Resources Department where she specialized in Employee Benefits.


She met and married Douglas Enge in 2006 after her first husband had passed away in 2005. Together Jan and Douglas shared 3 sons, 13 grandchildren and soon to be 8 great grandchildren. One of their sons family is in Augusta, one late sons family is in Sedgwick, KS and Doug's son is in Arizona.


Jan's favorite time is Sunday mornings, sharing the sanctuary with her family.

Karolyn is originally from the Eureka, KS area. After many years of being a homemaker and raising 5 children, she entered the workforce. After settling in the El Dorado area, she has worked at the Chamber of Commerce and Hospice Care of Kansas.


She is the proud grandmother of 8 and is enjoying the blessings of being a great-grandmother as well. After a good experience with Heritage Funeral Home during the loss of a loved one, she returned to work part-time in the El Dorado funeral home.

Jeanene was born in El Dorado, KS and has lived her life in the Towanda area attending Towanda and Cirle schools and the BUCC graduating in 1968. She has worked at McConnell AFB for 8 years and retired in 2014 after 25 years of service working for Koch Industries. Jeanene has a daughter and son-in-law and 3 grandchildren in the Andover area; a son and daughter-in-law and 4 grandchildren in Indiana. Jeanene enjoys time with family and friends.

Pastor Leon & Sharon Hiebert have faithfully served the Andover Assembly of God since 1989. Being born and raised in Kansas, Pastor Leon attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri for a year before being led by God to join the US Navy. While stationed in San Diego, he met and married Sharon.


Sharon graduated from Zion Bible Institute in Providence, Rhode Island, and was ministering in Layne's Home for Servicemen, San Diego, California, when she and Leon met.


Leon served as a hospital corpsman with the Third Marine Division in Viet Nam. After a year back in California, Sharon and Leon were moved by the Navy to Kaneohe Marine Corps Station in Hawaii and then finished 10 years in the Navy at the Naval Station in Honolulu. Pastor Leon served for a short time on a church board in Okinawa, and then in Kailua, Hawaii, where he attended a year of church schooling followed by a year teaching in that school. He also served as an assistant pastor of the Kailua Church. While still in the Navy, Leon & Sharon became pastors of Bayview Chapel A/G in Kaneohe, Hawaii, where they served until moving to Kansas. The last two years in Hawaii, Leon served as the District Youth Director. He has served as a presbyter in both Hawaii and Kansas.


Pastor Leon and Sharon have been married for almost 40 years and have one son, Doron, and a granddaughter, Taelyn. Pastor Leon loves the snow, fishing, and long car trips. Sharon's passion is working with children.


She heads up the church nursery and is also known as an amazing cook and seamstress.
