SANBORN, TESSA M. "TESS", 98 , passed away at Grand Plains Nursing Center in Pratt on June 28, 2021. Tessa was born on January 17, 1923 in Edmond, Kansas to Fred and Mary Marie "Mersch" Cupples. Graduating from Edmond High she began working at Boeing and was a proud "Rosie the Riveter". Tessa was very outgoing and friendly and enjoyed going dancing with her friends or hanging out down on Douglas. On September 8, 1946 Tessa married Calvin Edgar Sanborn, the love of her life; he later preceded her in death on December 9, 1972. Tessa enjoyed reading and playing cards, putting puzzles together and playing Bingo. She loved sports especially K State, the Royals and the Chiefs. She was an avid member of the Andover Senior Center and even taught some exercise classes there. She loved having her family together for family dinners and will always be remembered for her fried chicken, chicken and noodles and her popcorn balls. Tessa was opinionated and always told it like it was but she was a very sweet and caring person who was loved by all she met.

Tessa is survived by her children Lana Schaaf(Keene), Gilbert Sanborn(Joyce), Gayle Mortimer(Kevin) and Terri Sanborn; son-in-law Richard Moyer; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Mary; daughter Linda Moyer; siblings William Chester Cupples and Jennie Elizabeth Cupples.
