Tarek M.
Al-Birekdar
May 3, 1960 — December 29, 2020
Goddard
AL-BIREKDAR, TAREK M., 60 , passed away at his home in Goddard on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Tarek was born on May 3, 1960 in Damascas, Syria to Mohadeen Al-Birekdar and Nimat Al-Jazari. While growing up Tarek played soccer and loved all sports. At just the age of 17 he came to the U.S. alone to attend school, not knowing any English at the time. He became a Steelers fan and traveled the country as a union electrician. Tarek married Virginia Lioce on May 14, 1997 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was an honest, generous, and hard-working man that would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Tarek was an accomplished handyman and could build anything. He was also a great cook, well known for his signature hummus. He loved babies and dogs (and it's very important to note that they loved him as well) and was the most loyal friend you could have. He loved to mentor kids, whether it was coaching sports teams or supporting them in all their endeavors. He will be remembered as the family patriarch who loved to spend time with his family.
Tarek is survived by his wife, Virginia; children Aaron D. Al-Birekdar, Nemat R. Medina and daughter-in-law Lindsey J. Medina, Ahlyia M. Al-Birekdar, Vincent F. Al-Birekdar and Alexander A. Al-Birekdar; Two brothers; his dog Sheen and many other family and friends. A private family service will be held.
