Shane Allen Goken, 62 , of Wichita, passed away on September 14, 2025. Born on June 1, 1963, in El Paso, Texas, to Lester Lavon Goken, Jr. and Sharon Jean (Hampston) Goken, Shane's life was one of service, laughter, family, and heart.

When he was young, Shane's family moved to Indiana, where he grew up. Later the family moved to Howard, KS while he was a teen and there he attended and graduated from West Elk High. Shortly after, he felt a deep calling to serve his country, joining the U.S. Navy and later the National Guard serving from1982 until 1997. Shane carried the pride of being a veteran throughout his life, cherishing the bonds of service and the lessons learned along the way.

Shane's personality was one of color, humor, and individuality. He could be a little eclectic, often drawn to antiques, coins, and estate sales, always with an eye for something unique. He was passionate about Halloween, a true fan of NASCAR, and never missed a chance to cheer on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Shane collected all different Monopoly games and music, movies, and later, art through the VA program, revealed his softer, creative spirit.

Children held a special place in Shane's heart. He adored his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, spending hours watching Disney movies with them and enjoying their laughter. His goofy sense of humor and love of joking around made him the kind of uncle who could bring a smile to any face. And through it all, his loyal dog, Gizmo, remained by his side, a faithful companion.

Shane worked hard throughout his life. After his time in the military, he drove trucks for a living, later continuing his career at Truck Center Companies. He was known for being friendly and outgoing, striking up conversations with anyone, and never being afraid to "tell it like it is." Shane was passionate about what he believed in and stood firm, even if it meant being a little stubborn at times. Those qualities, combined with his humor and honesty, made him someone people remembered.

Shane is survived by his brother, Tim Goken (Carol); niece, Leslie Escobedo (Manolo); nephew, Trae Goken (Gabi); great-nieces and nephews, Arabella, Alondra, Amaya, Kacelyn, Kamden, Ariela, and Arlo; his beloved dog, Gizmo; his good friend Holly (Brian); and many other family members and friends whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Sharon; his sister, Michelle; and his nephew, Alex.
