CARPENTER, RUBY E., 91 , retired Andover Public Schools employee, passed away on January 30, 2019 at her home. Ruby was born on February 12, 1927 in Hepler, Kansas to Sidney and Mabel "Kelly" Ellis. She married Art Carpenter who preceded her in death on May 4, 1986. Ruby was a member of the Cowboy Church at the Prairie Rose and horses were her life. Ruby and Art were the founders of the World Wide Paint Horse Congress and charter members of the Kansas Paint Horse Association. They heavily promoted Paint horses through their involvement with putting on Paint Horse shows during the 1970's and 1980's, while also breeding and showing Paint Horses.
R uby is survived by her grandson J.A Wever and Suzie, her devoted Corgi. She was preceded in death by her husband Art; her parents Sidney and Mabel; and her daughter Janie Wever.
S ervices will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Faith Baptist Church, 417 W. Central Ave., Andover. Private interment will take place next to her husband in Bruno Township Cemetery, Andover.
M emorial donations may be made in Ruby's honor to the Kansas Paint Horse Association, PO Box 757 Abilene, KS 67410-0757 and to Freedom Hooves Therapeutic Riding Center, 7303 E. Harry, Wichita, KS 67207.
