Derby
Rosario De Los Angeles Montes Corbet de Feliciano , beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on May 10th, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on October 2nd, 1939, in Catano, Puerto Rico, Rosario was the cherished daughter of Juan E Montes and Francesca Corbet, both dedicated educators in their local Catholic school. Raised in Old San Juan, Rosario was the youngest and last surviving sibling, having lovingly cared for her brothers Frank E, Raul E, and Juan E Montes, all of whom preceded her in death.
Rosario's childhood was shaped by both joy and hardship, especially after the passing of her mother when Rosario was only nine years old. Despite these challenges, she grew into a vibrant young woman, exploring opportunities with her brothers and graduating from High School. Her passion for dance, from traditional Spanish styles to ballet, flourished during her teen years.
With determination and grace, Rosario pursued further education at Dale Carnegie, learning skills that launched her into the working world. She served for several years at Ashford Presbyterian Community Hospital in the Condado in Puerto Rico as an office and nurse assistant, touching many lives through her compassion and dedication.
Rosario's life was enriched by the friendships she forged, particularly with Clarita Maldonado and Nelly Reyes-Wolf, who remained by her side throughout her journey. At the age of twenty, Rosario's life took a new direction when she visited Kansas City, Missouri, and met her soulmate, Jose Feliciano. The two were married on December 24, 1960, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership. After fifty years, they divorced and he continue to care and support her till her final day.
As a military spouse, Rosario embraced new cultures and experiences, learning English and engaging in military spouse organizations. She lovingly raised her children, Francies Feliciano, Josephine Feliciano, and Jose Feliciano, Jr., instilling in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and curiosity.
The Feliciano family traveled the world, living in California, Okinawa, Florida, England, Arkansas, and Maine. Rosario's love of art blossomed as she explored pottery, painting, beadwork and drawing, culminating in her graduation from Mississippi Community College with an associate's degree on May 15,1992.
After retirement for 29 years of service, Rosario settled in after her divorce with her son to take care of her due to her disabilities of neuropathy. She resided in Derby Kansas for the past four years enjoying creating art and scratching lottery tickets till her final moment on May 10, 2026. She transcended into heaven peacefully on Mother's Day.
Rosario survives by her children, Francies Ivette Feliciano-Simmons, Josephine Ivonne Feliciano, Jose, Jr.; her grandchildren, Shelby and Stephanie Simmons; her loving divorced husband, Jose Feliciano and many dear friends and family members. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, artistic spirit, and the strength with which she faced life's challenges.
A private memorial service was already given by St Mary's Catholic Church at her home. She wanted a quiet and peaceful moment at home.
Rosario's warmth, creativity, and resilience have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will cherish her memory forever.
In remembrance of Rosario D Feliciano, her wishes was to sell her art. Please contact her son, Jose L Feliciano Jr, via email at JLF091766@ gmail.com. He is in the process of creating a website for that.
