HAMMOND, ROBERT LEE "BOB", 71 , passed away on June 24, 2024, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, with his children by his side. Bob was born on November 12, 1952, in Wichita, Kansas, to William R. Sr. and Lola Ann {Scheideman} Hammond.

Bob spent his entire life in Wichita. He attended Heights High before leaving school to join the Army. During his service, he was stationed in Hawaii and served during the Korean War Conflict. After his military service, Bob returned to Wichita, where he met Barbara Libel in May 1974. The couple married on September 7, 1974.

Throughout his career, Bob worked at various places, including Sunflower Electric, Lampton, and spent 20 years with Industrial Gas. Beyond his professional life, Bob had a passion for fishing, golfing, and riding his motorcycle. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. Bob was known for his dedication to his family, always ready to drop anything to help them in times of need.

Bob is survived by his children Gloria Dreher, Amanda Willis, and Robert Hammond (Sarah); 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and sisters Debbie Maxwell and Kim Mechum. He is also remembered by many other family members and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lola; his wife, Barbara; and 4 brothers.

A visitation for Bob will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 502 W. Central Ave., Andover, on Friday, September 28, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Bob's memory to Air Capital Flyers, 907 N. Wilbur Lane, Wichita, KS 67212.
