Robert "Bob" Wayne
Turner
1956 — September 25, 2026
Wichita, Kansas
Robert “Bob” Wayne Turner passed away on September 25, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 70.
Bob received part of his early education in Newton, Iowa, where he attended his freshman and sophomore years of high school. He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1974 and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies from Wichita State University. He built his career in the aircraft industry and worked for Learjet, Millenium Concepts, and CE Machine. He was known as a stoic but humorous man, qualities that shaped both his work and his relationships.
Bob enjoyed many of the simple pleasures of life. He loved football, especially cheering for his Kansas City Chiefs, and he was a long-time fan of the Wichita State Shockers. He also enjoyed music, especially the Grateful Dead. At home, he had a special fondness for his porch cats, especially Sammi. Some of Bob’s happiest times were spent with his family and children on the family farm. He enjoyed fishing on the pond, going blackberry picking, and teaching the kids how to shoot guns and bows and arrows. His children will always remember riding around in his truck, "Muffin".
He is survived by Tess Turner; his son, Paul Turner; and his daughter, Lark Turner. He is also survived by his brothers, John Turner and his wife Carol of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Steve Turner and his wife Kelli of San Tan Valley, Arizona, and Gary Turner and his wife Kate of Springfield, Missouri; and by his sister-in-law, Mary Turner. He will be remembered with love by his family and friends and by all who shared in his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Paul Turner; his mother, Dora May Turner; and his brother, Mike Turner.
Bob will be remembered for his steady nature, his sense of humor, and the time he shared with the people he loved most. His memory will remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
