RICHARD L PERRY
12-14-1944 TO 07-21-2023
Richard L. Perry lived a full life. He served in the Marine Corps for 6 years and worked as a Quality Engineer. He was a member of Northside Church of Christ. In Faith he loved giving secret donations to those in need at church. Friends later shared this secret with us. Dad loved making manuals and organized one for a local church putting in a Child Care Center for their facility. It set out the plan for everyone needed to come together for the project. Dad was our Basketball Coach, Baseball Coach, and ScoutMaster for years. He helped many young men get their Eagle in the Boy Scouts of America.
He leaves behind wife Terry, daughters Cynthia and Tamara (recently deceased) and son Tylor. He also leaves brothers Mike, Bob and Jim, sisters Andrea and Janet and a dear Aunt B. He leaves three Grandchildren Zac, Levin and Trace.
His brother Mike recently shared how Dad was more like an additional father figure, being the oldest of 7, teaching the younger to fish and hunt. They have many dear and precious memories. He would even sell donuts as a kid to bring extra income to their large family. Throughout many years he was a source of encouragement and support making sure everyone was ok. My favorite memory of dad was watching him grow in his faith and what he did for my departed sister. The last 5 years of her life was very difficult as she had a neuromuscular disease. Dad would daily encourage several times telling her he is "praying for her". He would bring her sermons on CD from church every week. He always ran errands daily for our needs from groceries to pharmacy full of Joy and smiles. Zac shared, "His Grandpa taught him boy scout skills, how to work hard and an example of providing and protecting family."
Dad throughout his life has taught us and those around him the importance of Service from Country to family and church to community. Dad we love you and will miss you. Thank you for everything!
This was our daily scripture reading the day dad passed..."Giving thanks to God the Father who has Qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the Saints in the Light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins." Colossians 1:12-14
Dad did not wish to have a funeral but a close family gathering in Colorado where he took the scouts in the Pikes Peak area. His ashes will be sprinkled there.
