WASSON, RICHARD LEE "DICK", 87 , passed away on May 15, 2023 at his home at Larksfield Place in Wichita. Richard was born on September 20, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas to Donald R. and Vivian {Mourning} Wasson.

Richard is survived by his wife Hardy and his 3 sons Mike and his wife Rita, Mark and his wife Jennifer, and Brent and his wife Cayla. Grandchildren Jennifer, Josh, Jessica, Chris, and Chase. Great Grandchildren Carly, Sam, Kennedy, Colton, and Camden.

Dick was in the Air Force working in Intelligence in Frankfurt Germany when he met his bride to be, Herta. Dick and Hardy have been married for 67 years come this July 4 ^th . After the Air Force, Dick worked as an aeronautical engineer splitting time between all the airplane manufacturers in Wichita and eventually retiring from LearJet. Dick was one of the first engineers to be trained on CAD/CAM computer aided design and later taught others the technology. If only he could work a tv remote so well. His hobbies were woodworking, golf, and getting into a car and taking long drives while singing to the radio even if he didn't know the words. Dick was instrumental in youth football and never missed his sons games and often showed up at practice. He loved life, his family, and making people not worry about him. He was cherished by many, many nurses and physicians throughout his abundant of time spent at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. He never complained, always put on a happy face, and kidded around with his nurses relentlessly. He did what needed to be done to keep moving forward. He was a true fighter and his wit and humor will be missed by many.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Andover United Methodist Church, 1429 N. Andover Rd., Andover with Pastor Ryan Lynch presiding. Interment will follow at Bruno Township Cemetery in Andover.
