Richard will be remembered as a hard-working man who built a life centered on family, laughter, and determination.

Richard Gomez, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away on August 25, 2026, in El Dorado at the age of 69. He was born on January 2, 1957, in El Dorado, and remained deeply connected to the place he called home throughout his life.

Richard will be remembered as a hard-working man who built a life centered on family, laughter, and determination. Alongside his wife and children, he owned his own cleaning company, cleaning many business offices and government offices. He took pride in his work and in the life that he and his family built together through that shared effort.

He loved his family deeply, and that love showed in the life he lived every day. Richard was a big jokester who brought humor into the lives of those around him, yet he was also very much a “my way or the highway” kind of person. He enjoyed life and lived by the belief that you cannot take anything with you, a mindset that reflected his straightforward nature and his appreciation for living fully in the moment.

Richard had many passions that brought him joy. He loved classic cars and boxing, and he was a devoted Buffalo Bills fan. He especially enjoyed following Jim Kelly and Josh Allen. He will also be fondly remembered for roaming the streets “low and slow” in his little red truck, creating memories that will stay with those who knew and loved him. The daily phone calls he shared with family and friends will be missed and cherished as part of the rhythm of life he gave to those closest to him.

He will also be fondly remembered for roaming the streets 'low and slow' in his little red truck, creating memories that will stay with those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Barbie Gomez; his sons, Richard Gomez(Rachelle) and Ryan Gomez(Kayla) and his daughters, April Baker(Damen) and Andrea LaFever(Matt) grandchildren Lauren, Lexi, Karly, Kinsley, Lainey, Harper, Madison and Connor and great grandchildren Rowan, Michael and Arielle. He is also survived by his mother, Ophelia Gomez; his brothers, Ralph Gomez, Frankie Gomez, and Billy Gomez; and his sisters, Susie Martinez and Mary Jacks. Each of them carries forward treasured memories of his humor, his strength, and the love he had for his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pete Gomez Sr., and by his brothers, Sammy Gomez, Pete Gomez, and Raymond Gomez.

Richard’s life was marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a spirit that was entirely his own. He leaves behind memories of laughter, loyalty, long conversations, and the unmistakable sight of that little red truck rolling by. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
