Richard Lee Blackman , 74, passed away peacefully October 31, 2019 at his residence in Eureka, with his wife and son by his side, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Richard is no longer in Kansas. He left the Yellow Brick Road for streets paved in pure gold.
H e was born to Oscar and Shirley (Larsen) Blackman on December 1, 1944. He attended high school until the 10th grade and went on to a trade school to learn to drive 18 wheelers. Upon graduation, he met Erlinda Mehegan, and they were married on August 26, 1973. Their son, Shad, was born the following year. Richard drove trucks for 38 years for various employers in California before moving to Eureka, Kansas in April 2001. He continued driving trucks, as well as being an owner/operator for a period of time. Richard had a passion for driving cars, trucks, heavy construction equipment, and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was also a self-taught artist and cartoonist.
R ichard is survived by his wife of 46 years, Erlinda (Mehegan) Blackman, their son Shad Blackman, and granddaughters Jade and Skylar; his sister Janice Hutchings; and many other loving relatives and friends. "It is finished" and he has gone home!
