ANDOVER
MARK, RACHEL VICTORIA, 99, passed away on May 26, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Rachel was born in Spivey, Kansas to Walter and Iva Helm on February 18, 1920. She went to school at Spivey High School where she was Valedictorian of her graduating class. Rachel married Arnold Mark on December 2, 1939 in Kingman, Kansas. She worked at the Coleman Company in Wichita, in the lunchroom at the Spivey Grade School, and was the head cook of Mark Custom Harvesting, not necessarily by choice. Probably Rachel's most rewarding job for her was that of a homemaker, mother to her children, and wife and partner to Arnie. She was also a longtime member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Harper, Kansas.
R achel is preceded in death by her spouse, Arnold Mark; sons Terry Lee and Stanley Leroy; daughters Sandra Kay and Linda Lou; her parents Walter and Iva Helm; sister Fern Selichnow; brothers Wilbur Helm, Lotus Helm, Charles Helm, Raymond Helm, Donnie Helm and Jerry Helm.
S he is survived by her daughter Connie Drake of Andover; son Randy Mark and wife Pam, of Maize; brothers Arlow Helm of Wellington and Kenny Helm of Derby; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
C asketbearers will be Rachel's great-grandchildren: Madeline Herring, Jesse Drake, Preston Drake, Kinsey Emery, Corey Drake, Cole Resser, Trevor Drake and Addi Emery. Honorary casketbearers will be Rachel's grandchildren Chris Drake, Todd Drake, Chad Drake, Lacie Emery, Erica Mark, and Natalie Mark.
F uneral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Riverlawn Christian Church at 4243 North Meridian Avenue, Wichita, Kansas 67204 with Pastor Kurt Schneider of Riverlawn Christian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Duquoin Cemetery in Duquoin, Kansas at 2:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
T he family of Rachel wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; all of her friends and family in attendance today; to Linda Miller for the kind, caring, and loving way she helped care for Rachel for hours and hours with no limits; and to Doctors Michael Ludlow and Richard Watson for their many years of excellent care.
