Peggy Louise
Creed
July 10, 1929 — May 16, 2022
Wichita
Peggy Louise (Dull) Creed, 92 , passed away in Wichita, on May 16, 2022, just months after losing the love of her life and husband of 73+ years, Lloyd E. Creed. Peggy was born to Coah and Della (Dye) Dull, July 10, 1929, in Wichita, KS. Preceded in death were her parents and brother Howard (Karen) Dull. Survivors include brother Dan (Laura) Dull of Douglass, KS.
Peggy's life was one of active community service, but the highlight of her life was becoming Mrs. Lloyd Creed on September 24, 1948; her greatest joy and pride was found in her role as "Mom" to her four sons: Mike (Shelley) Creed of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; David (Shirley) Creed, Wichita, KS; Steve Creed of Wichita; and John (Joan) Creed of Loveland, CO. That joy continued to grow as she welcomed and loved on nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, numerous friends, and extended-family members. The "Peg and Lloyd Grandchildren" are: Rebecca Creed Nimrod, Abigail Creed Krulatz, Griffith Michael Creed, Benjamin David Creed, Jacob Ross Toben, Annie Christine Hutchison, Joe Connor Creed, Hannah Marie Creed, Tucker Colby Creed. They share these loving memories of their beloved grandmother: "I will forever remember her hands. She would tickle my arms and legs for hours, and I loved snapping beans together after we picked them from her garden" (Abi'); "… her dedication and devotion in life and action – always with a feisty softness…" ('Becca); "No lipstick/No pictures!" (Griff'); "Homemade cookies, 'fiddlesticks' and 'dadgummit', and always being at our games…" (Annie); "Homemade cookies for my teams for our away games…" (Ben); "Her grace and elegance, an always-full cookie jar, her shared stories, and the Creed family traditions we are now lucky to pass down…" (Hannah). Peggy leaves a remarkable legacy.
A lifelong resident of Wichita, Peggy was a graduate of Wichita East High School and continued her studies at Wichita State. Well-known as a natural beauty inside and out, she was honored to be named Prom Queen at Wichita East (1947), 1948 Parnassus Queen, and as Army Day Queen. She enjoyed her affiliations with Gamma Phi Beta sorority, P.E.O., Eastern Star, numerous PTA organizations. She was active in the United Methodist Church and played in bridge clubs with cherished, life-long friends.
A devoted fan of her boys' sports, she rarely missed a football, baseball, or basketball game and cheered as Mom at numerous meets and tournaments from Little League through college days. While active parenting was her major role, as a loving homemaker, she also sold Avon for years; during her early empty nest years, she worked in the regional Sherwin Williams office for fifteen years.
Peggy and Lloyd were active square dancers, community members, and loved traveling the USA as well as internationally. Having purchased the Creed Family Cabin in 1970, Westcliffe, Colorado became their home-away-from-home and upon retirement, it became their summer home. Peg and Lloyd both loved the mountains and the friends made in Colorado. They especially loved their "Tanglewood Acres Family" and worshiping there at David's Chapel on Sunday mornings. Peggy was known for her always-open cabin doors, hosting her chili suppers, and sharing meals of freshly caught rainbow trout.
Peggy will be greatly missed by family and friends, but we rejoice in the comfort that she and Lloyd are reunited and will spend eternity together with their Savior, Jesus Christ.
