LISS, PATRICIA GAIL "SWEETIE," age 79, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, at Lakepoint Nursing Center in Augusta, surrounded by her loving family. Patricia lived a life defined by faith, generosity, and a heart that never knew a stranger.

Patricia was born on May 21, 1946, in Clarksville, Tennessee, to Harry Dudley Councill and Naomi Billeau Councill. She grew up in Clarksville, where she attended Clarksville High School and quickly distinguished herself through both her determination and warmth. Following graduation, Patricia attended the University of Arizona on a bowling scholarship—an early reflection of her talent, discipline, and motivation. She later continued her education at Friends University, earning an associate's degree.

Patricia was a mother in the fullest sense of the word. She adopted her son, Scott, as an infant, but her heart was so expansive that she never limited her love to anyone. Any friend of Scott's who lacked family found one in Patricia. Through her marriage to Jim with his five sons, more children entered her life, and she loved them just as fiercely and faithfully. To be known by Patricia was to be claimed as family.

Patricia's faith was the center of her life and flowed effortlessly into everything she did. She was spiritually generous to the point of being contagious—lifting others simply by her presence. A natural leader and devoted prayer warrior, Patricia not only prayed faithfully but taught others how to pray, encouraging them to trust deeply and love boldly. Her faith was active, lived out through service, kindness, and an unwavering belief in God's goodness.

Professionally, Patricia worked for and retired from Cargill, where she served as secretary to the Director of Transportation. Even in her career, her organization, dedication, and gentle leadership were evident. Retirement, however, did not slow her down. She returned to part time work at Gambino's in Towanda.  During all of this she found time to volunteer and served 11 years with the Lord's Diner.  It was there that Tricia and Jim met, followed by over twenty years in a loving marriage.

Patricia had a gift for giving in the simplest, most heartfelt ways. She raised chickens so she could give fresh eggs to others, and when her hens weren't laying, she bought eggs from the store so no one would go without. This small but powerful act perfectly reflected who she was—someone who quietly ensured that needs were met and hearts were cared for.

Affectionately known as "Sweetie," Patricia lived up to her nickname every day. She was gentle yet strong, humble yet impactful, and her legacy is woven into the lives of the countless people she nurtured, encouraged, and prayed with and over.

Patricia is survived by her husband Jim, her children: Scott Dodge; James Liss (Grace); Tom Liss (Charla); Tim Liss (Robyn); Johnny Liss (Lya); and Joey Liss (Jenifer). Her grandchildren: Lucas, Jackson, Brooklynn, Jason, Stanley, Eisen, Christina, Thomas, Monica, Byron, Alex, Andrew, Zachary, and Dorthea; many great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harry and Naomi Councill.

The Visitation and Rosary will be held at 9:30am with the Funeral Mass following at 10:30am on Friday, January 2, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, School Building, 303 N. Denver, El Dorado. Immediately following service there will be a gathering and fellowship time at H2O Church  ~  304 Main St, Towanda, KS 67144. Patricia will be laid to rest at Towanda Cemetery in a private interment service.

Patricia Gail Liss leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and fearless love. Though her earthly work is complete, the prayers she prayed, the kindness she showed, and the lives she touched will continue to echo for generations.
