Patricia "Pat" Charlene (Thach) Hunnell passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024 at her daughters home in El Dorado, KS. Patricia was 87 years old, she was born in Halstead, KS on April 6, 1937 to Kenneth and Maggie Thach.

Pat graduated from Peabody High School in 1955. She met her soon to be husband while working at a cafe in Walton, KS. She married Carlos Hunnell, three months later, August 3, 1956. They had six children: Kenneth Eugene (who preceded her in death), Michael Carlos (who preceded her in death), Connstance Carlene, Patricia Joyce, Timothy Charles (who preceded her in death), and Patrick Kelly (who preceded her in death). Pat and Carlos were married 20 years before Carlos passed away.

She was a wonderful homemaker and loved her family. While raising her children Pat helped her husband by learning how to drive a dump truck and various dozers. Through the years she drove a school bus, dump truck and a dial-a-ride bus. She was very proud she kept her CDL certification for 42 years

Pat and Carlos moved the famiy frequently while working road construction. In 1971 the family settled in the Bloomington area, southwest of Leon, KS. A few years after losing her husband and sons, Pat moved to Bandon, OR to live with her sister Nita until 2007 when she moved back to Peabody,KS.

She loved collecting red cardinals. She had a nice collection of figurines, music boxes and various items with cardinals on them. Playing cards was a huge part of her life. "Oh hell", Pitch and Golf were just a few of the card games she played and passed on to her family and friends. She also loved to read, usually had two or three books going at once. Her daily newspaper was a must for her. Pat enjoyed working outside either gardening or taking care of plants and flowers. She definately had a green thumb.

Over the years Pat loved to travel. She traveled to almost all of the 50 states and across Canada. Took various cruises which included the Panama Canal and the Caribbean. She had traveled over seas to Germany and London, also. Her daughters traveled with her on many "Girls trips" over the years. Pat also stayed in touch with her Peabody High School classmates and took trips across the United States for reunions.

Her survivors include her two daughters, Connie (Tony) Allmond of El Dorado, KS; Patricia (Doug) Carlton of Houston, TX; daughter-in-law Debbie Hunnell of Leon, KS; sister Nita Watson of Bandon, OR; ten grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Patricia was preceded in death: husband, Carlos Hunnell; sons, Kenneth, Michael, Timothy and Patrick Hunnell; granddaughter, Chelsea Worrell, and one sister and one brother and her parents.
