Nancy Naomi Brown, a beloved pillar of her community and cherished member of her family, passed away on February 8, 2024. Born on July 1, 1932, in Fall River, Kansas, Nancy was the daughter of Orville and Willmetta Dame.

Her childhood was adorned with memories of the United Methodist Church, where she often reminisced about the joy of ringing the church bell, an act so spirited it would occasionally lift her off the ground. Nancy's spirited nature followed her through her teenage years, where she shone as a cheerleader at Buffalo High School, graduating with the class of 1950.

Shortly after high school, Nancy married her high school sweetheart, Maynard, in the same church where their love story began. Their union was soon blessed with the arrival of their first child, though their early years together were marked by the call of duty, with Maynard serving our nation in the Korean conflict with the Navy. Nancy bravely navigated the challenges of raising their family and managing their household while Maynard was away, eventually welcoming two more children into their lives.

Throughout her life, Nancy faithfully tended to her family, wearing multiple hats with grace and dedication. She served as a Cub Scout leader, nurtured her children until they were grown and independent, and then embarked on various job opportunities alongside the love of her life.

But it was in her role as a grandmother that Nancy truly thrived. She delighted in the presence of her grandchildren, opening her heart and her dress-up closet to them, allowing them to explore their imaginations to the fullest. When she wasn't spending quality time with her grandchildren, Nancy could be found indulging in her passion for painting or selflessly caring for the needs of others.

A devout woman of faith, Nancy was the prayer warrior of her family, always ready with a hug and a word of encouragement for those in need. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Maynard, her sons Rodney and Roger Brown, daughter Marilyn Brown, five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also, Darlene Bolian as best friend of 65 years. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents Orville and Willmetta, and her sisters Joyce Bavuso and Carol Geyer.

As we mourn Nancy's passing, let us take solace in the beautiful memories she leaves behind and honor her legacy by embodying the same spirit of love, generosity, and faith that she so gracefully exemplified throughout her life.
