Michael was born February 22,1952 in Auburn, New York to William and Martha
Simkulet. He graduated in 1970 from Jordan Elbridge High School, Jordan, New
York then joined the Army soon after where he was stationed for a year in
Thailand. After his military service, Michael attended Rensselaer Polytechnic I
nstitute in Troy, New York where he received his Bachelor of Sciences in
aeronautical engineering in 1980.
He worked in the aeronautical industry for forty years at Boeing Aerospace,
Sikorsky Aircraft, Hawker Beechcraft, Raytheon Aircraft, Eclipse Aviation,
Kestrel Aerospace, and Mooney International. After retiring he worked as an
independent mechanical systems engineer consultant on several engineering
projects.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Sandra, whom he was united in marriage in
1974; three brave children William Michael, Brian Charles, and James "Jimmy"
Frederic; his three sisters Patricia (Robert), Deborah, and Connie; as well as s
everal nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Michael was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. His passions included
aeronautical engineering, wine making, bread baking, and history. He maintained
a small vineyard with plants rescued from his great grandmother's home in
Skaneateles Falls, New York. As a parent, he volunteered with the Boy Scouts
programs through 1998 when his son, Brian, achieved Eagle Scout. Michael was
an avid philatelist (stamp collector) and numismatist (coin collector).
Michael was exceptional and irreplaceable and will be missed by all who knew
him. He will live in our hearts forever.
