WICHITA
SMOOT, MARY "ROSY" ROSALIN, 82 , retired USD 259 Teacher, passed away on September 24, 2018 at Harry Hynes Hospice, Wichita. Rosy was born on December 14, 1935 in El Dorado, KS. She grew up in El Dorado and graduated from El Dorado High School. After graduation she moved to New Jersey and attended school in New York. Rosy then came back to Kansas and attended Southwestern College. She retired from USD 259 after 32 years as a teacher, tutor and piano instructor. She was a very special teacher that changed the lives of many of her students. Rosy loved to read and write and especially loved KU basketball; having watch parties with her friends at her home. She never missed a game.
R osy is survived by her children Denise Kruse(Troy Carlson), Doug Smoot and Jerrmey Hilton(Leslie); brother Norman James(Phyllis); grandchildren Kait Fox, Kendra Kruse, Harmony Hilton and Oliver Hilton; many great grandchildren, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

memorial service and reception will be held to celebrate Rosy's life on November 17, 1:00 PM, at College Hill United Methodist Church, 2930 East 1st St. North, Wichita.
