JOHNSON, MARY SUZANNE, 81, passed away in peace at her home in Benton, KS on December 4, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Andover, Kansas, with the Holy Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and memorial Mass at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon. Graveside services will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Ascension Cemetery in Bel Aire.
M ary, known to her family and friends as "Sue," was born on June 22, 1940 in Wichita. After attending St. Joseph Catholic School, Sacred Heart Academy/Newman and Wichita State University, she married her husband, Daryl Johnson, on February 12, 1966. Sue and Daryl were married for more than 50 years; together they had four children and ran Johnson's Service Station under Skelly and later Kerr McGee, on old Highway 254, where she ran financial accounts.
S he was a devoted Catholic, a loyal and active member of her church community at St. Vincent de Paul, and a long-time volunteer of the Lord's Diner soup kitchen. She was a fierce University of Kansas basketball fan - "Rock Chalk!", a merciless card player, and a thoughtful friend. She will be remembered for her sarcastic but good-natured sense of humor, her welcoming hospitality, and her unwavering commitment to faith and family.
S he is survived by her brother, Michael Landwehr; her daughter Suzanne and son-in-law Stanley Crocker; her daughter Lisa, son-in-law Ron Doyle, and grandchildren Madeleine and Lila; her son Andrew, daughter-in-law Tamara, and grandchildren Easton, Aria, and Annabelle. She was preceded in death by her husband Daryl Eugene Johnson; her son Patrick Brian; her parents Ernest Landweher and Kathryn Doyle Landwehr; and her sister Patricia Landwehr Robertson.
