CONSOLVER, MARY GLADYS "GLAD", 97 , of Andover, Kansas, passed away on May 6, 2021 at age 97. Glad was born in Jamestown, Kansas on May 8, 1923 to Clarence and Zella "Babe" Collins. She grew up on her family farm, which her father built, along with her five siblings.
She graduated from Randall High School, where she played on the girls basketball team. During World War II, she moved to Wichita and got a job on the production line at Beechcraft, where she worked for 20 years.
She met James "Luther" Consolver at the Consolver Brothers Sports Center driving range, where she was playing with friends. They married on July 5, 1960 at Central Christian Church. Together, they had one daughter, Cathy, as well as Luther's two sons from his first marriage, Ron and Larry. She enjoyed taking her daughter and neighborhood friends to Kiddieland, which her husband and his family owned.
Glad was a woman of many hobbies. She loved quilting, gardening, and woodworking, and was always working on a project. An avid WSU Shocker fan, she loved watching basketball games with her family and was a season ticket holder for decades.
Glad is survived by daughter Cathy (Tony) Durano and her children Lauren (Gavin) Smith and Alex Durano; sister Donna Poage; son Ron Consolver and his children Amy, Carrie Stout, and Darren; daughter-in-law Pat Consolver and her children Don (Erin), Dan (Ronda), and Dennis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Luther, her sisters Clar Motes and Vi McElroy, brothers Rob and Earl Collins, step-son Larry, and daughter-in-law Linda.
A visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home in Andover on May 12 from 5-7 pm, with a graveside service on May 13 at 11 am at Minneha Township Cemetery, 14704 E. Harry St, Wichita, KS 67230.
Memorial donations can be made to the Andover Community Food Bank, 1429 N. Andover Rd, Andover, KS 67002.
