WALKER, MARTHA , passed away on October 27, 2022 in Wichita.
M artha Belle Harper Walker was born on July 17, 1930 in Jerome, Idaho to George and Elizabeth (Bessie) Harper.
She passed to Heaven peacefully, Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Andover Medical Center, Andover Kansas.
Martha graduated from the Sheridan Community High School in Hoxie, KS. She attended Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany Oklahoma. Martha taught in the Long Island, KS and the Gaylord, KS Elementary Schools.
Martha and Kenneth were married on May 22, 1952 in Fowler, KS at the Friends Church.
T hroughout her life, Martha depended on God for her peace and strength. No matter what life handed her, she faced every challenge with laughter, prayer and trust that God knew what was best. Martha was quick to look for the possibilities in the storms of life rather than to dwell on the darkness of the storm. Martha's foundation of trust in her Savior has always been prayer. She spent many hours praying for others that God impressed on her heart to pray for.
M artha managed the Vera Waters Art Center in Fowler, KS over the past 30 years. She had a passion for the ministry of Operation Christmas Child and helped organize and pack thousands of shoe boxes over many years to be distributed to children throughout the world.
M artha is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John Harper, Joe Harper and Mark Harper and two sisters, Mary Harper and Ruth Harper.
Martha is survived by her husband Kenneth Walker, one brother, Paul Harper, her children: Barbara (Keith) Whitney, Karen (Barry) Friesen, Steve (Mindy) Walker, Mark (Carolyn) Walker and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.
G raveside service will be held Saturday November 5th at 2:00 at the Fowler Cemetery.
A come and go Life Celebration will be held at the Vera Waters Art Center from 3pm to 5pm following the graveside service.
