Lynda Sharon Schroeder , known by her friends and family as Shari, passed from this world to be with her heavenly Father on May 6th, 2020, at the age of 77.
S hari was born in Dallas, TX, to Wilson Darr and Billie Mizell and grew up in Ganado and Pharr, TX. She graduated from PSJA High School and in 1961 married Leonard Schroeder of McAllen, TX. Shari and Leonard were just shy of their 59th wedding anniversary at the time of her passing. During their marriage, they were blessed with four children: David, Larry, Mark and Katy. Shari and Leonard raised their family in Portland, TX, where they lived for 51 years. They relocated to Wichita, KS, in 2017 to live with their son Mark and his family.
S hari was a lifelong lover of music, and one of her greatest joys was singing. Her family believes the Lord God just got a new soprano for his heavenly choir.
S he was a bookkeeper by trade, and when she wasn't helping to earn a living for her family, she was lending her abilities to her church. Shari's greatest love was reserved for the Lord God and her earthly family. In her latter years, she would say that she was born into a big family, had her own big family, and wanted her family to always be around her. Shari passed from this world with family surrounding her bed and raining their love upon her.
S hari is survived by her husband, Leonard Schroeder, of Wichita, KS; son, Larry Schroeder, of Austin, TX; son, Mark Schroeder, and his wife, Jennifer Rettig Schroeder, of Wichita, KS; and daughter, Katy Schroeder, of Los Alamos, NM. Her grandchildren include Hannah and her husband, Jonathan Barton, of Fort Dodge, IA; Holly and her husband, Zach Longhofer, of Wichita, KS; Elizabeth and her husband, Ari Aviles, of Santa Fe, NM; Ruth Schroeder of Wichita, KS; Sam Schroeder and his wife, Alexa, of Lawrence, KS; and Moyra Lashley of Los Alamos, NM. Shari also has 2 great-grandchildren that were rays of sunshine in her life: Benjamin Barton and Laurie Beth Longhofer. Shari is additionally survived by her sister, Kay, and her husband, Jimmy Greier, of Panama City, FL; brother, Stephen Grim, and his wife, Susan, of Virginia Beach, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
S hari is preceded in death by her father, Wilson Darr; her mother, Billie Mizell; her stepfather, Jimmy Grim; her sister, Gwen Boone; her brother, James Grim; and her beloved son, David Schroeder.
