Lois Ruth Smuck, 73 , of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025.

She was born January 30, 1952, in Aberdeen, Washington, to Louis and Lillian Harris. During her early childhood, her family relocated to Portland, Oregon, where she stayed through second grade. Another move brought her to Greenleaf, Idaho, where she would spend the rest of her youth and graduate with the Class of 1970 from Greenleaf Friends Academy.

After high school, Lois moved to Haviland, Kansas, to attend Barclay College. It was there that she met the love of her life, Homer, and the two were married on July 2, 1972. Shortly after, they moved to Denver, Colorado, to serve the community for eight months before relocating to Fort Collins, Colorado, to manage an apartment complex.

Lois and Homer soon felt the call to full-time ministry, beginning in Miami, Oklahoma, where they pastored the Friends Church. Their ministry journey would lead them to serve faithfully in many communities including Nampa and McCall, Idaho; Talent, Oregon; Mt. Ayr, Kansas; Chandler, Oklahoma; and finally back to Mt. Ayr Friends Church, where Lois eventually retired.

Retirement allowed Lois and Homer to settle in El Dorado, where they enjoyed being close to family. Lois had a deep love for people, and her bright spirit and contagious laughter drew others to her. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and especially preparing meals for large gatherings. She was an ordained minister and cherished opportunities to speak publicly and encourage others.

Lois is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Homer Smuck; her children Jeremy (Betty) Smuck, Jannea (Ryan) Griswold, and Jacque (Bryan) Penrose; her brother, Kieth Harris; her sister, Kathy Hart; and her beloved grandchildren Bethany, Bailey, Caleb, Alyssa, Joel, Brynlee, Joanna, Ian, Clayton, and Isaac.

Her legacy of faith, joy, and service will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
