L inda was born December 3, 1949 in El Dorado, Kansas, where she met and married her soul-mate, Jerry Effort Wilson. The two celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 21st of this year.
J erry was the founding member of the band "The Weasels" and Linda was his biggest fan and supporter. She was affectionately known as one of the "band wives". The two spent much of their early years together focused on music and the band which found some success, securing a recording contract with a Houston-based agency. Circumstances outside their control cut their experience short and they returned to El Dorado where they spent the remainder of their lives together, raising their family.
L inda held several occupations in her life, but by far and away her proudest accomplishment was being a mom - which she did with patience, grace, grit, humility, humor, consistency, courage and love. The happiness she experienced in raising her small herd was superseded only by the immense joy she found in having grandchildren. Nothing made her more proud. Linda often questioned herself and her role as a parent - wondering if she was doing it right and wishing she had a guide book. To those on the receiving end of her motherly love, it seemed as if she'd actually written the book, as her legacy of love was woven into every decision she ever made in support of those she cared for so deeply.
L inda could be described as an avid garage saler, a seeker of school colors, a coffee connoisseur, a cheerleader, a mystery novel reader, a TV Crime Fighter, a movie marathoner, a chocolate hoarder, list maker, steamroller, prankster, and food critic. She loved fishing (especially for crappie and catfish), rocking babies (and grown-ups who needed it, too), people-watching, driving fast, McDonald's Coke (with extra ice), shopping for prom dresses (even though she'd deny it), being "with the band" and laughing until she cried. She was fiercely loyal and protective of her family, maybe to a fault... but her family didn't mind. She was the best listener, problem solver, secret keeper, advice giver and friend. She also made the best roast with carrots and potatoes, and green goop on the planet. She is so loved and already so missed.
