Linda L. Wankum, 76, of Wichita, Kansas died on Easter Sunday April 4, 2021 in Wichita, Kansas.  Linda Lou Young was born on March 14, 1945 in Red Oak, Iowa, the daughter of William and Marie (Bailey) Young.  She attended Red Oak Community schools and graduated from Red Oak Community High in 1963.  She then attended and graduated from Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha, Nebraska.  On September 3, 1967 she married John P. Wankum in Red Oak, Iowa.  They resided in Omaha, Nebraska for the next 10 years before moving to Garden City, Kansas in 1977.  She remained in Garden City, Kansas until 2012 when she moved to McPherson, Kansas.  In 2019 she moved to Wichita, Kansas.
O ver the years she worked in numerous clerical/secretarial jobs.  She was most recently a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas.  Throughout her life, Linda was an active member of her church in each community where she lived.  She took part in Bible Study, Quilt Ministry, Card Ministry and Stephen Ministry.  She enjoyed playing golf, softball, and bowling in her earlier years and was always dedicated to her family.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and watching sports, particularly K-State, the Kansas City Chiefs, and anyone playing KU.
S he was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, her sisters, and her husband of 39 years, John P. Wankum.
Survivors include:  1 son and daughter-in-law:  Phil and Nikki Wankum of Wichita, Kansas; 1 daughter:  Carla Wankum of Wichita, Kansas; 6 grandchildren:  Lauren (Michael) Janzer of Aurora, Colorado; Christina Wankum of Hesston, Kansas; Zachary Wankum of Manhattan, Kansas; Emily, Katie, and Andrew Wankum of Wichita, Kansas; 1 sister-in-law and brother-in-law:  Jean and Marion Sohl of Conroe, Texas; along with many nieces and nephews and other relatives and close friends.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m., both at the Ascension Lutheran Church, 842 N. Tyler, Wichita.
M emorials will be given to Ascension Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas.
