Linda Anne
Varga
August 29, 1945 — March 30, 2024
Wichita
Varga, Linda Anne, 78, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away on March 30th 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by George, her husband of 56 years, son George, daughter-in-law Crystal, brother Steven Gossage, sister Gayle, granddaughter Ashley Sevart, grandson Nathan Unruh, sisters in law Denise Gossage, Valerie Hague, Eva Harrison and Aniko Moore.
Linda was born in Hutchinson Kansas and was greatly influenced by her grandmother in her early years. She grew up with a loving spirit, ambition and a strong work ethic that would serve her entire life.
Her childhood education began in Hutchinson, continued in Wichita, attending East High School. Her disciplined school habits and enjoyment of learning would lead to Wichita State University where she graduated in 1967 with the teaching certificate. It was during those college years that she met George through friends. As their friendship developed, he became enamored by her infectious smile in naive charm. Their time together grew into a much stronger friendship in love. They were wed in November of 1967, and this began a marriage that would last for the next 56 years.
In her early career, Linda was an elementary school teacher, but her ambitions would motivate her to continue her education while working full time. Their marriage would soon be interrupted by George's military service for the next year they would correspond daily. Upon his return they settled into their new normal life, sharing their carefree years with family and close friends.
The summer of 1971 saw the arrival of their son George; they bought their first home. Two years later they built a new one and four years later they moved again, this time to stay for the next 23 years. By the year 2000, the desire to build once again, they began their new home where they lived to the present time.
Linda's drive led to her career achievement as a school psychologist, working with young people from the ranks of the gifted to those with special needs. She retired in 2006 and once again in 2010 following an amazing 43 years as an educator.
In retirement, Linda enjoyed spending time with her family, her passion for reading and traveling with her husband George as well as her adventurous friends.
She was a warm, lovable and caring soul, she will be missed by all. May she rest in peace with the love of God!
