Larry Lee Windholz, born on August 1, 1950, in Great Bend, Kansas, passed away on September 25, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. He was the beloved son of Hilarious "Hilary" Windholz and Helen Windholz, and his life was marked by a journey filled with adventure, resilience, and a fierce love for his family.

Larry began his life's journey in the heartland of Great Bend, Larry was even rumored to have been involved in a spirited rivalry, which led to the legendary theft of Pratt's mascot, the "Fighting Frog." After graduating from Kingman High School, Larry embarked on a diverse career path that showcased his versatility and determination.

During his youth, he developed a reputation as an adventurous spirit as he became a member of the Air Force,  He owned a gas station in Oklahoma City before transitioning to apartment maintenance, first in OKC and later in Texas. He eventually settled in Augusta, Kansas, where he began working at the refinery. Larry later relocated to El Dorado and found his niche in the maintenance department at Beech Aircraft, where he would ultimately retire.

Larry was a man of many talents and interests. He had a remarkable knack for fixing cars and tackling various home improvement projects. He was an avid coin collector and found joy in the companionship of his two loyal dogs, "Cache" and "Myrtle." Larry had a passion for sports and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams.

Those who knew Larry recognized him as a "spitfire pistol" who never hesitated to speak his mind. His love for his family ran deep, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilarious and Helen Windholz, and his beloved wife, Karen, as well as his cherished granddaughter, Courtney.

Larry's legacy lives on through his sons, Joseph and Larry Jr. "LJ," and his sister, Sandy Drake. He is also survived by his brothers, Wes Windholz, Rick Windholz, and Terry Windholz, as well as his granddaughters, Megan and Kaylee. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Larry Lee Windholz will be remembered for his spirited nature, his dedication to his family, and his ability to make a lasting impression on everyone he met. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate a life well-lived and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of his loved ones. May he rest in peace, knowing that his memory will forever be cherished.
