DOOLEY, LARRY RUSSELL, 78 . God took Larry home January 12, 2022 at his home In Wichita, KS.

Larry was born to Leo Monroe and Suzanna (Lofton) Dooley on December 12, 1943 in Akron, Ohio where he grew up. He graduated from Kenmore High School, Akron U, and got his Master's degree at Wichita State. At Laughlin Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX he received his pilot's license. He flew helicopters and the KC 135. Flying Air Rescue missions in Korea during Vietnam and later in Washington saving lives was the most rewarding time of his Air Force service. He completed 14 years with the Air Force. He was promoted to Major. He turned the promotion down because he wanted to focus on family.

Larry joined Xerox in 1981 as a Printing Systems Consultant. He was adamant that he was not a salesman. His job was to listen to the customer then provide the system that would fit their needs. He retired from Xerox in 2002.

In January of 1977 he met Lucille (he called her Cil) Henrie at a Singles group at West Heights Methodist church. They were married July 28, 1977 at Kimberling City, MO.

Larry was a member of New Spring church. He enjoyed welcoming people as a member of the greeting group, being a member of the security team, being a part of Judgement House and our small group Bible study friends.

Larry loved being out in nature and hunting whitetail deer, pheasant, quail, turkey or antelope.  He was a member of the Cowboy Action Shooting Association. He could always attain very good scores at the matches.

At one time he was interested in Ham Radio operating. He felt called to write Christian Blogs and spent many hours doing it. Building dulcimers and playing them gave him much satisfaction. His sons say he was a self proclaimed connoisseur of craft beers!

Cil convinced Larry to travel the United States and he was okay with it as long as he was with her. They sold their house, moved into their RV and then traveled for the next nine years. They enjoyed most all of the country East of the Mississippi River. Door County, Wisconsin and Gulf Shores, Alabama were "home".

Larry would always let you know what your opinion should be and he had a story for everything. Larry was a caretaker. He was a very loving person. Cil and his family was the center of his life. His enjoyed his grandkids and loved being a part of their lives. He especially liked teaching them new things.

Larry is survived by his wife Lucille Dooley, children, Chris Shirk (Julie), Steve Henrie (Deana), Greg Henrie(Lisa); 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo, Suzanna, grandson Gage, Uncle Joe Lofton and sister Avonne Weldon.
