WILSON, LARRY BRUCE, 73 , of El Dorado, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. A man of strength, grit, and unwavering loyalty, Larry lived life on his own terms—honest, hardworking, and deeply devoted to those he cared about.

Larry was born on March 27, 1953, in Winfield, Kansas, to Frederick Wilson, Sr. and Theonia {Lumbert} Wilson. He grew up with a competitive spirit and a strong sense of determination that would define much of his life. While attending Leon High School, graduating in 1971, Larry excelled in both football and wrestling. Wrestling, in particular, became a point of pride—his talent took him as far as California to compete, and he remained undefeated in Butler County, a testament to both his discipline and drive.

Following graduation, Larry answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. Shortly thereafter, on June 1, 1974, he married the love of his life, Judy Keplar. Together, they built a life grounded in hard work, loyalty, and quiet devotion.

Larry began his working career at Love Box Company, where he remained until the company came under new management. He then continued his career at Road Safe, dedicating himself there until his retirement at the age of 65. Retirement, however, did not suit Larry's nature. Never one to sit still, he spent many years helping out at the local sale barn and later worked for Locke Grass and Cattle for over 30 years, continuing until he was no longer able.

Outside of work, Larry found his greatest peace in the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, tending to his garden, and taking pride in growing and selling his produce at local farmer's markets. These simple pleasures reflected the kind of man he was—steady, self-reliant, and content in honest work.

Larry was known as a no-nonsense man. He didn't pretend, and he didn't sugarcoat. You always knew where you stood with him—he either liked you, or he didn't. But for those fortunate enough to earn a place in his circle, Larry's loyalty was unmatched. Once you were his friend, you had a friend for life, and he would stand by you without hesitation.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; his sons, Aaron Wilson (Jennifer) and Darryl Wilson (Echo); two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his brothers, Frederick, Jr., William (Grace), David (Deb), and John; his sisters, Pat McCurdy and Karen Glaves (John); along with many extended family members and friends who will carry his memory forward.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Theonia Wilson.
