Kenneth John
Etienne
February 7, 1937 — January 4, 2025
El Dorado
ETIENNE, KENNETH, 87 , passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, at Lakepoint of El Dorado, with his devoted daughter by his side. Born on February 7, 1937, in Fr. Francis, Ontario, Canada, Kenneth was the cherished son of Edward and Florence (O'Neal) Etienne. Raised in the beauty of Canada and the community of International Falls, Minnesota, Kenneth built a life defined by service, love, and adventure.
Kenneth dedicated his career to civil service, working as a juvenile officer, a dog catcher, and an ambulance driver. Through these roles, he touched countless lives with his compassion, strength, and unyielding commitment to helping others, particularly young people. His work extended beyond his career as he served as president of the Juvenile Officer's Association, advocating for the safety and well-being of youth.
Kenneth's passion for mentorship shone in his love of hockey, where he served as a coach, guiding players not just in the sport but in life. He found joy in woodworking, golf, and fishing, but nothing compared to the time he spent with his family, whom he cherished deeply.
Kenneth's sense of humor was legendary, as were his extraordinary tales of wrestling bears, a gorilla, and even the iconic Hulk Hogan. His adventurous spirit and quick wit left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a good man with wisdom to share, always ready with kind words and advice for those in need.
Kenneth is survived by his loving children, Dorothy Kuehl (Tony), Shelly Oswald, Mike Etienne (Lori), and Bill Ballew (Darlene); his brother, Wayne Etienne; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen; his parents, Edward and Florence; his children, Jade Etienne and Judith Etienne; and his brothers, Jim and Lester Etienne.
Kenneth's legacy is one of love, laughter, and service. He was a guiding light to his family, a source of strength and inspiration to his community, and a man who lived life fully and courageously. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know him.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
