Joseph Krohn
Hanson
March 25, 1933 — October 7, 2023
Andover
HANSON JOSEPH KROHN, 90 , Joseph Krohn Hanson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023, at his home in Andover, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 25, 1933, in rural Severy, Kansas, to Harold Ambert and Zenada Lucille (Krohn) Hanson.
Joseph's early life was marked by frequent relocations, but he found his roots and graduated from Andover High School. Following his graduation, he embarked on a career as a roughneck in the oilfield, a profession that would define much of his life's work.
On September 1, 1953, Joseph married the love of his life, Johanna Maria Bollig, in Pocatello, Idaho. Their journey together took them to Colorado, where Joseph worked for Virg's Testers for approximately 25 years while building their family in Sterling, CO. After retiring from his oilfield career, Joseph and Johanna made their home in Phoenix, Arizona, until about 2007. During his time in Arizona, Joseph worked as a security guard at the airport.
Joseph was a man of many talents and passions. He enjoyed carpentry and the art of working with wood, often spending his free time tinkering and building. His love for the outdoors was evident in his dedication to yardwork, including mowing and raking leaves, even at his children's homes. He had a knack for taking chances at the casino and playing slots on the computer. Golfing was another pastime he cherished.
Joseph was known for his intelligence and his musical talents, playing the guitar with skill. In his later years, he could often be found sitting on his porch, listening to his favorite oldies radio station or enjoying country music. He was a man with an infectious laugh, a kind heart, and a penchant for giving great hugs.
One of Joseph's greatest joys in life was his grandchildren. He adored them and showered them with love and attention, always lighting up with the biggest smile when they came to visit.
Joseph Krohn Hanson is survived by his son, Rick Hanson; daughters, Lori Orosco and Debbie Molina; sister, Beth Grainger; grandchildren, Shari Hanson, Christopher Hanson-McLane, Stephanie Garcia, Shani Shock, Brenna Kellerman, Jennifer Mulvihill, Dana Mallon, Deann Hinojosa, Mike Wales, and Adrianne Bickford; as well as 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Zenada; his beloved wife, Johanna; his siblings, Lucille Gilbert, Ben Hanson, and Walt Hanson, along with his nephew, Gene Lynn and niece Julie Clopton.
