John Wheeler Swafford, Passed away peacefully in Augusta Kansas at the age of 78 April 3rd 2023. John was born in Wichita KS to Elton and Laverna Swafford. He grew up in the college hill area of Wichita, attending schools there and graduating from Wichita State University. He married Susan Haas soon after high school and to them a daughter was born, Terri. John worked as a teacher, in the insurance industry and as an environmental engineer. Later he married Nancy Kendrick and became father to Matt Swafford. John spent the majority of his life in the Kansas City area with Nancy and Matt were they enjoyed being fans of the Royals and Chiefs. John organized and produced a yearly outdoor neighborhood play that included all the neighborhood children in the 75th and State Line area. He loved beautifully landscaping his outdoor area and tending the plants in his solarium. He was a skilled Craftsman, producing stained glass art that he gifted to his loved ones. He was a loving son husband father brother and neighbor he was a gentle soul would be truly missed by all whose lives he touched.

John was survived by a son, Matt Swafford, and a daughter, Terry Harrison, his brothers Kent, and Kim, and his sister, Kay Knowles, his grandchildren Zach and Xander Swafford, Rebecca, David, Omaru, Adolphus, Nathan, Abigail, Tikvah, and Elisheva Harrison, and Miriam Pennington, along with 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents Elton and Laverna Swafford and his wife Nancy Kendrick Swafford.
