El Dorado
HEAD, JOHN ROBERT, 69 , passed away on October 8, 2024. John was born January 13, 1955 to Elsie Cleghorn and Robert Head.
John's name means "God's gracious gift " and he was certainly that. I was honored to have been his wife for almost 40 years. He gave me the gift of himself, someone to live for, someone to love.
He is the only man that I have ever been with and I was the only woman he had ever been with. I was almost 28 years old before we got married. I felt like my life began when I married John.
After we had just met each other he hand carved me a violin that he gave to me on Christmas day. He told me soon after we were married on April 29, 1988, that he hoped that I died before he did, because he didn't think that I would be able to bear it. He was so perceptive. When he died at 3 o'clock in the morning on October 8th, I was by myself and went into a little shock. I couldn't walk or talk for over 6 hours. I then realized how costly love is, especially for your mate. John once told me that loving me so much made him feel awkward.
John was a gem, stellar in his continuous faithfulness, endurance and love. He had the deepest heart, which made it hard for him to express himself.
His favorite song was Exodus that he used to play in school choir on the violin, He knew Wichita like the back of his hand, his favorite symbol was Black Bear Bosins, Keeper of the Plains Indian, he loved nature and hiking, and he adored his dog Joey.
He could do anything that he set his mind to. His favorite job was working as an aerospace mechanical engineer in Colorado Springs.
His understanding of life, politics, the battle between good and evil was prolific and his wisdom was overwhelming. I learned so much from John. Our pastor Billy McCall from Grandview Baptist church said that John's answers were always spot on when John went to Sunday school.
He was the Vincent Van Gogh of our time.
2 Timothy 4:7
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the Faith,
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them that love His appearing. "
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "
I will be forever grateful to Karen and Richard Carter for Karen sharing the gospel with John and taking him to Derby Holiness church where John received the Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
After all his brothers and sisters became foster children, John became homeless and walked for miles and miles on the streets of Wichita. He knew Wichita like the back of his hand.
John triumphed over very extreme adversity. John, a diadem in the Lords hand. Chosen One.
John was proceeded in death by his parents Robert and Elsie Head, His brother Gilbert Head, He was survived by His wife Laura Head, brothers Charlie and Steve Head, and sisters Brenda Kemper, Robin Yerge, Edna Berg and Kathy Henderson.
