BOURGUET LUJAN, JODY ILENE, 68 , of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on September 10, 2021, after a brief but very difficult battle with COVID.

Jody was born on July 16, 1953 to Darwin and Remy Bourguet in Silver City, New Mexico. Throughout her youth, she could be found reading a book, working at the family ranch, and making straight A's. After Jody graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1971, she pursued a degree in Social Work at New Mexico State University.

After graduation, she worked as a social worker for children in Texas, before becoming a social worker at Senior Services in Wichita, Kansas. She later served as a case manager under the Sedgwick County Department on Aging. Jody worked tirelessly, not only as a social worker, but as an advocate for the elderly. She was known to have a compassionate, empathetic, and giving nature. Her drive to serve others in need, as well as provide support and empathy to those who were less fortunate, motivated her throughout her life. During her final years in a care home, her generosity knew no bounds, as she loved to share soda, candy, snacks, and thoughtful gifts with her fellow residents. Living in a care home was difficult, but she carried it with dignity and grace, never losing her quick wit, feisty attitude, and care for others.

In 1974, she met Efraim Lujan at New Mexico State University. He served in the college senate, and per Efraim's words, she was "the good looking blonde" who served as the senate secretary. Jody and Efraim were married on November 16, 1975 and went on to have two children, Sara and Darwin. Jody will be remembered for the love she had for Christ, her husband, her children, her very dear sisters and extended family.

Jody retired in 2014 after over 30 years in the field. While retired, Jody spent time in New Mexico with her husband, Efraim, where she supported him during his brave fight with cancer.

Jody was predeceased by her husband, Efraim Lujan, her mother Remy Bourguet, and her father, Darwin Daniel Bourguet. She is survived by her son, Darwin Bourguet Lujan, her daughter Sara Bourguet Lujan, and her sisters Beverly Bourguet (husband Ralph Vincent), Natalie Aranda, and Marylin Willey (husband Glen). Due to the complications of COVID, services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Meals on Wheels America, or the National Eating Disorders Association.
