Jimmie Dale
Parsons
August 25, 1954 — March 31, 2024
Augusta
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jimmie Dale Parsons, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Jimmie left this world on March 31, 2024, at the age of 69, at his home, comforted by the unwavering presence of his devoted wife, Tiena.
Jimmie was born on August 25, 1954, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Delbert Lee Parsons and Matilda Ann "Hanks" Parsons. Due to his father's military career, Jimmie's childhood was marked by numerous relocations, eventually settling in the Wichita area. It was here, at the tender age of 10, by the serendipitous waters of the Park City Swimming Pool, that Jimmie first met Tiena Haines. Though their paths diverged, fate would see them reunite and forge a life together, marrying on June 28, 1973, at the First Baptist Church in Valley Center.
Jimmie was a man of dedication, not only to his family but to his work. Throughout his life, Jimmie mastered many trades, working for Pepsi Co., Bemis Bag Co., and later, alongside Tiena's father in towing cars. In 1981, Jimmie and Tiena embarked on a new venture in Andover, where Jimmie founded his own towing company. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life, he was with the Andover Fire Department for ten years and the Butler County Sheriff's Department as reserve volunteer until 1994, when he chose to focus on his family following a car accident involving his children.
Retiring from Beech Aircraft in May 2016, Jimmie found solace in woodcrafting, fishing, camping, and especially, spending time at the family lake home in Toronto—a beloved retreat for over 30 years. A fervent Kansas City Chiefs fan, Jimmie's greatest joy was his family, cherishing every moment spent together, especially during the family gatherings and BBQs he so loved to host.
Jimmie is survived by his loving wife, Tiena; daughter, Stacy Parsons of Augusta; brother, Richard Parsons; grandchildren, Candi Parsons, David, Jessy and Derick Gimple; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Matilda; daughters, Lori, Megan, and Melinda; a baby boy; and siblings, Pamela, Debra, Charles and Ralph.
A graveside service to honor Jimmie's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Bruno Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Jimmie's honor, a testament to his compassionate spirit and lasting legacy of love and service.
Jimmie Dale Parsons will be remembered as a pillar of strength, a beacon of kindness, and a heart full of love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched, forever cherished and never forgotten.
