Jim Henry DeWitt, 80 years of age, went to be with his Lord, Thursday September 14, 2026. He was born in Cass Lake, MN. to Jim and Dora (Maggard) DeWitt. Jim was a maintenance carpenter for Butler Community College from 1991 to 2007. From 2007 to 2026 he was the pastor for Community Worship Center located in Rosalia, Kansas.
Jim was a man who's greatest Joy in life was his Family and The Lord. He found happiness in all outdoor activities, Hunting, Fishing, Gardening, his passion was Preaching. But nothing compared to the love he had for his family. Family was at the heart of everything he did. He was a role model, a steady source of love and encouragement. He taught the values of life to work hard, love deeply, treat others with kindness, and always cherish the people who matter the most. He encourage people to believe in themselves. He had a heart that made room for everyone that crossed his path. Nobody was a stranger. Whether you had known him your whole life or had just met him, he had a way of making you feel welcomed, loved, and like you belonged. His kindness, laughter, wisdom, and generous spirit left an impression on everyone. Ordinary moments became extraordinary simply by being around him.
Jim leaves behind his loving family and church family, Wife Sheri, Daughters Debra (Jason) Babcock, Samantha (Mark) McAnally and Iva Sawyer; Grandchildren Yzabell Babcock, Elyzabeth Babcock, Kayli McAnally, Marque McAnally, Ivanna (DeWitt) Lewis, Braiden Lewis, Ivenna Sawyer, Savanna (Sawyer) Howard, and Patrick Howard; great grandchildren Jaelynn Hanson, Liam Nixon, Kinlee Nixon, Vincent McAnally; Extended great grandchildren; Thomas Goodall, Gabrellia Goodall, Cheyenne Goodall.
Preceded in death by brother Frank, Father Jim and Mother Dora, Charley, Gypsy, and Billy. Jim will be missed by his family and many friends. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday September 23, 2026 at Heritage Funeral Home, 206 E Central Ave, El Dorado, Kansas 67042. Graveside service will be 11:00 am Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Blankenship Cemetery, 2903 SE Flinthills Rd, Rosalia, Kansas.
