Javel "Lavene"
Tullis
April 30, 1943 — January 23, 2024
El Dorado
TULLIS, JAVEL "LAVENE", 80 , of El Dorado, Kansas, went home to be with Jesus on January 23, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, after a life defined by love, service, and unwavering faith.
Born on April 30, 1943, in Winn, Arkansas, Lavene was the eldest of eight children to Roy and Hazel "Ashcraft" Shoemaker. The family relocated to Wichita, Kansas, when Lavene was a young girl, setting the stage for her lifelong residency in the Sunflower State.
Lavene spent her early years in Lyons, Kansas, where she attended local schools. Described as a remarkably simple and unpretentious woman, Lavene found her greatest joy and pride in her role as a mother and family matriarch. Her life was a testament to the power of love, simplicity, and a servant's heart.
After some time in McPherson, Lavene settled in El Dorado, where she raised her family. Her sweet, loving nature touched all who knew her, and her spirit of generosity knew no bounds. Following her children's upbringing, Lavene channeled her caring nature into the healthcare field, where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Certified Medication Aide (CMA) at a local nursing home, further extending her nurturing impact on others.
Lavene's devotion to her faith was profound and palpable. She was a dedicated member of the House of Prayer in El Dorado, where she served as a song leader. Her life was a living expression of her love for the Lord, and she found profound joy in serving and assisting others in any way she could.
Lavene leaves behind a legacy of love and service, survived by her children, John Tullis (Diana), Sherry Hemry (Art), Marla Tullis, and Nichole Eagle (Ray); her sister, Lynn Hinderlighter; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who were touched by her kindness and compassion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Hazel; her son, Roger Tullis; two brothers, and four sisters.
The family will gather with friends to honor and celebrate Lavene's life on January 29, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the El Dorado Civic Center, 201 E. Central Ave., El Dorado, KS 67042.
Lavene's journey on earth may have ended, but her spirit, teachings, and love continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her life was a beacon of faith, hope, and unconditional love, and she will be deeply missed.
