James Harry Elrichs of El Dorado KS, aged 90, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, in Wichita, KS. James was born on October 4, 1934 in Sleepy Eye MN.  James was an accomplished boxer – winning many awards with the Golden Gloves.  James graduated from Sleepy Eve High School in 1952.

James proudly served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.  Following his military service, he embarked on a career in technology, initially working as a Computer Repair Technician for GE. He created his own company -  Logical Computer Service, that he was very proud of.

His love for music was profound; he was skilled at playing the acoustic guitar and had a deep appreciation for bluegrass music, enjoying shows like the Grand Old Opry and watching episodes of "The Dukes of Hazzard."

James is survived by his sister, Helen Patterson of Arizona; nieces Sandy Balbach of Minnesota, Dawn VanDyke of South Dakota, Michelle Stage of Minnesota, Cheryl Haas of Minnesota, Kim Lang of Minnesota, and Robin Patterson of Arizona, Dianne Elrichs of Kansas; nephews Craig Bielen of Minnesota, Tony Patterson of Florida, and Bryan Elrichs of Kansas. He was preceded in death by his mother Ethel Elrichs, father Harry Elrichs, sister Gloria Bielen, brother Charles Elrichs, and nephew Brad Bielen.

James will be missed by many at the Gordy Square apartments – El Dorado KS where he lived for 20 years.

James will be laid to rest alongside his parents – Walnut Valley Memorial Park – El Dorado, KS.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VA in memory of James service and dedication to his country.
