EL DORADO

SMITH, IVAN BRENT, 88, of El Dorado, KS, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.  A celebration of his life will be on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 1:00 at Temple Baptist Church, 925 Douglass Rd, El Dorado, KS, with graveside service to follow at Blankenship Cemetery, Rosalia, KS.

I van was born on October 17, 1930 in Hudson, KS, the son of Theodore and Goldia Smith.  He graduated from Rosalia High School in 1948. He then graduated from Northwestern College in 1956 with a BA degree in Biology. In 1970, he received his Masters Degree in Environmental Science.

I van met Annabelle Wilson while attending College in Minnesota and they were married in June 1955. After teaching at a small school in Perth, ND, They moved to Oklahoma City, where he worked for Oklahoma City-County Health Department. After his retirement in 1985, Ivan and Ann moved back to the family farm near Rosalia, KS where he started a small engine repair business.

I van enjoyed teaching young people and was always excited to see them learn, whether it was Sunday school, Small engine repair, or tutoring math or science classes.

U pon any encounter with Ivan, it was evident that his relationship with his Lord was his highest priority and he wanted others to know Jesus as well.

I van was preceded in death by his wife, Annabelle, his parents Theodore and Goldia Smith, brothers, Dale, Philip, Gale Elton, and Star Smith. He is survived by one brother, Q.T. Smith of St Paul, MN and his sister, Glennis Page of Rosalia, KS and many nieces and nephews.
