Ismael
Garcia
January 31, 1944 — August 16, 2025
El Dorado
GARCIA, ISMAEL, 81 , passed away on August 16, 2025, at Ascension St. Francis in Wichita, surrounded by love. Born on January 31, 1944, to Horacio and Beatrice (Pena) Garcia in Dalmita, Texas, Ismael grew up with strong family roots and a deep connection to his community. He attended school in Dalmita, where he graduated and enjoyed playing high school football—a sport that would spark a lifelong love of the game.
After high school, Ismael began working in a variety of jobs, always proving himself to be a hard worker who took pride in whatever task was before him. He spent time working as a security guard before moving into farming, which became a natural fit for his strong work ethic and his love of being outdoors. Farming also allowed him to surround himself with animals, which he cared for deeply. Whether it was cats, dogs, horses, or even a donkey, Ismael's heart always had room for his animals.
Though he was somewhat quiet and reserved when you first met him, those who came to know him discovered a warm and engaging storyteller. He had a way of drawing people in with his stories, often sharing them with humor and sincerity. His quiet strength and gentle nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Ismael also enjoyed watching football and proudly followed both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys. Game days brought him joy and gave him another way to connect with family and friends.
He is survived by his stepson, Steve Crafton; stepdaughter, Rhonda Crafton; brothers, Horacio Garcia, Jr., Israel Garcia, and Abel Garcia; sister, Aurora Garcia Salas; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horacio and Beatrice Garcia, and his brother, Leonel Garcia.
Ismael will be remembered for his hard work, his quiet kindness, his love of animals, and the way he brought people together through his stories. His life was a testament to the beauty of simple joys, family, and faithfulness, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
