Gloria Schueler, 93 , of Wichita, Kansas passed-away peacefully on March 6, 2022 at home after a long struggle with severe aortic stenosis.
G loria Schueler was born in Gordonville, Missouri to Reverend Hugo Henry Frederick and Edna Catherine Augusta (Niemeyer) Hoyer on August 10, 1928.
T he family lived in Gordonville, Missouri between 1928 thru 1944.
G loria was baptized by her father Reverend Hugo H. Hoyer on August 12, 1928 at Christ Lutheran Church, Gordonville, Missouri where Hugo was the pastor of the congregation.
G loria was confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, Gordonville, Missouri on the 29 th day of March 1942. Her dad once again presided over the confirmation service.
G loria went to school in Gordonville, Missouri through the 10 th grade.
S he then attended high school for a little over a year in Jackson, Missouri before moving to Fairmont, Oklahoma where her dad took a call in 1946. Fairmont, Oklahoma was to small to have a school so she attended classes at Garber, Oklahoma where she completed her high school education graduating with the class of 1946.
G loria then moved to Wichita, Kansas to live with her brothers Robert John Hoyer and Elmer August Hoyer who had relocated to Wichita to find work.
G loria met her future husband William John Schueler while attending Trinity Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas where they were both very active in Walther League. William moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1950 from New York City, New York to take a job at Boeing. Walther League was a group for young Lutheran's. Their relationship grew as they met many other friends and participated in group activities.
G loria and William J. Schueler were married on October 18, 1952 in Wichita, Kansas at Trinity Lutheran Church where her father Reverend Hugo H. Hoyer (a Lutheran Minister) performed the wedding ceremony.
S he worked as a secretary for Henry V. Schott Insurance Agency for 10 years before they had their first child. Gloria then became a full-time stay at home mom.
G loria Schueler is preceded in death by two of her son's Daryl James Schueler and Chris Alan Schueler and her father Hugo H. Hoyer and her mother Edna C. Hoyer. She also is preceded in death by two sisters; Elfrieda "Fritzie" (Hoyer) Strickert and Marian Louise (Hoyer) Kremeier and her oldest brother Robert "Bob" John Hoyer.
G loria is survived by her husband William J. Schueler and a son Eric V. Schueler. She also is survived by two granddaughters Sindra (Schueler) Hicks and Samantha (Schueler) Emerson and two great granddaughter's Minea and Sloane Emerson.

T he family of Gloria Schueler wishes to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who worked with us from Heartland Hospice and Mobile Medical and to the Pastors and her good friends from Ascension Lutheran Church.
G loria served the Lord as the Wedding Reception Coordinator, VBS Coordinator and Ladies Aide. Gloria and Bill also served Sunday morning coffee at Ascension for 32 years. She loved taking care of the coffee service because it gave her an opportunity to meet and visit with people. Gloria and Bill also organized and entered weekly attendance cards for many years. One of Gloria's favorite activities was quilting with a group of her friends at Ascension each week.
M emorial service will be at 10:30am Saturday March 12, 2022 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 842 N. Tyler Rd, Wichita, KS 67212.
