Gina
Reed
December 4, 1934 — April 18, 2020
Andover
Gina (Wagner) Gulick Reed passed away on April 18, 2020 at the age of 85. She was born "Gisela" December 4, 1934 in Oppau Germany, one of four children born to Heinrich & Amalia Wagner. She grew up in Ludwigshafen and attended school during the height of WWII, attending only until the ninth grade. Gina then served an apprenticeship as a sales clerk in Mannheim, (West) Germany. This would begin a life-long love of selling and interactions with like-minded people.
While working on the Military base, Gina began an illustrious career as an entertainer, singing with bands that took her into Italy and many other far-flung metropolitans such as Tripoli post-war. She met GI Billy Gulick during this time and they married in Germany in December 1958; soon after they moved to Southern California.
Once in the U. S. Gina did not follow her dream of becoming a singing sensation, instead she concentrated on being a mother and working as a waitress while Billy was learning his vocation. Two children were born to this union, Lori Jo (1960) and Roscoe Scott (1965). Eventually she was able to start a new selling venture and in the 1970's became a successful Licensed Real Estate Salesperson.
In 1974 the family moved to Kansas and Gina & Bill partnered in several business adventures such as Toronto Hardware, Bills Place, the Toronto Marina & Heated Dock (at Toronto Lake), and B&G Plastics. During her time in Toronto, Gina completed her GED, became a naturalized Citizen, was baptized at the Christian church and became a C.N.A and C.M.A.
In 1982 Gina and Bill divorced. Gina moved out of Toronto and continued working in the medical field, dating and pursuing her love of Garage Sales. She married Claude Reed of Eureka in 1989; he passed away in 1996. Gina moved to the Wichita/Andover area and worked as a CMA at Catholic Center for the Aged and Heartland Behavioral Health. She took care of many ages as she worked up into her 80's. She mourned the passing of her companion, Larry Dearman after 30 years together in 2018.
Anyone that met Gina will surely remember her giving-big and small, her faith in God, and her wit and sense of humor. Gina attended and called the Andover Baptist Church her "family"; she enjoyed going to many outings in the Andover area including dancing with her beau, Glen.
A memorial celebration is to be held at a later date; she was cremated. She will be buried in McFarland Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Lori (Larry) Senne, McFarland, Ks.; R. Scott (Kimberly) Gulick, Estero, Fl., two grandsons – Ethan Senne, Tanner Gulick and a sister Traudel (Gerhard) Werz of Frankenthal, Germany, and niece Jutta Werz of Grosscarlbach, Germany.
