George Michael Coffey, 66, passed away on January 27, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. Mike was born in Andover, Kansas, on November 1, 1955, the first child of Earline and Lloyd Coffey.
Mike graduated from Andover High School in 1973. While in high school, he participated in debate, journalism, band, football, and was a National Merit Finalist. Mike initially worked on the assembly line but later found his place in Publications using his writing skills to prepare user manuals for aerospace products. His experience and knowledge of the aerospace product line made him a highly valued employee.
Mike retired in 2015 to focus his energies on fighting cancer. After remission of the cancer, Mike returned to full-time work continuing even after a recurrence of cancer in early 2019. His final battle with cancer turned out to be much more difficult, however Mike managed the treatments with optimism and humor. Mike loved his work and the relationships he had with colleagues. His work, along with the love of his friends, and family provided him energy to fight the cancer to the end.
Mike is survived by his brother Patrick, uncle and aunt Daniel and Doris Powers, cousins Sarah Powers Webb, Earl Powers, Robert Coffey, Diana Lipp, Lynette Hammond, and good friend, Linda Patterson, and many other extended family members, coworkers, and friends. May Michael's loving spirit find peace in his heavenly home.
