June 1, 1933 — August 15, 2024
El Dorado
Frances "Leona" Harrison , wonderful loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, left this world peacefully on August 15, 2024 at Lakepoint Nursing Center in El Dorado where she had been living since her husband Gene's death in February. She was blessed to celebrate her 91st birthday on June 1st.
Leona was born on June 1st , 1933 in Rosalia to Alva and May(Perry) Fuller. She was the 2nd of 5 children and the family moved around Kansas when she was young following her father's job as a railroad foreman. She graduated from Benton High School where she met and eventually married her sweetheart Gene Harrison on June 28, 1952; they spent 71 wonderful years together. Leona was a homemaker while her children were young and took great pride in raising her 3 children until she took on the role of rural mail carrier out of Benton in 1969 until she retired in 1993. Her favorites joys the last few years were reading and quilting but her love was for children and babies, especially her own grandchildren, great grandchildren and even her great great grandchild.
Leona leaves a legacy of love survived by her children, Rose Mayginnes (Butch) of Andover, Nancy Mock (Steven) of Reece, and Paul Harrison (Kim) of Wichita; her grandchildren, Shelby, Brent, Jason, Adam, Andrea, Eric, and Kyle; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; her brother Robert and her sister Betty. Leona was preceded in death by her parents Alva and May; her sister Alvena; brother Fred and her daughter Paula Jean in 1953.
