Hendricks, Evelyn "Arlene", 88, passed away June 7, 2019 at Lakepoint in El Dorado. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Heritage Funeral Home, 206 E. Central, in El Dorado. Interment will follow at Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
L ife began for Arlene on April 30, 1931 when she was born to Luther B. and Evelyn E. (Jones) Lewis in El Dorado. Arlene went to school in El Dorado and graduated high school in 1949. She met and later married Denny S. Hendricks in El Dorado on August 5, 1949. To this union were born 2 children: Denise Ann (Mark) McCall of Kansas City, and Ron James (Sharon) Hendricks of El Dorado. Arlene was an avid reader, and she loved to sew, cook, and square dance. She also enjoyed water aerobics, spending time with her family, playing the piano, and planting flower gardens. Arlene was a legal secretary with Woodard and King Law Firm in El Dorado for 23 years. The family were longtime members of Park Avenue Baptist Church in El Dorado prior to moving to Bentonville, Arkansas in 1988. During retirement in Arkansas, Denny and Arlene spent much time traveling, going to craft fairs, and enjoying Arkansas' beautiful lakes. They picked blueberries every season that they turned into blueberry syrup, pancakes, and jam that the grandchildren loved.
A fter residing in Arkansas for 19 years, they returned to El Dorado in 2007. Even during the years Arlene suffered with Alzheimers Disease, she remained her sweet, fun-loving self, and enjoyed many activities at the Lakepoint Nursing Facility during the last 4 ½ years of her life.
A rlene is survived by her loving children, Denise (Mark) McCall and Ron James (Sharon) Hendricks; 2 sisters, Joann ("Tom" ) Harper of El Dorado, and Myrna ("Bud") Fair of Wichita; grandchildren Andrew (Julie McCall) of Goddard, KS, and Kelly (Chris Pennington) McCall of Fort Worth, and Hannah Hendricks of Wichita; step-grandchildren Bradley and Jolana Gooding of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Cheyan Gooding of El Dorado, Casey (Missy) Gooding of El Dorado; great grandchildren Afton and Rex Pennington of Fort Worth, Texas; step-great grandchildren Silas, Clayton, Dylan, and Titus Gooding of Bella Vista, Arkansas.
A rlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband Denny, and 2 brothers, Bud and Junior Lewis..
