Eugen Aleteanu lived a life defined by courage, resilience, and an unwavering belief in the possibilities of tomorrow. He passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, at his home in Wichita, with his loving wife, son and daughter in law and two daughters by his side—just as he had lived his life, surrounded by those he cherished most.

Eugen was born on August 29, 1950, in Bucharest, Romania, to Joseph and Virginia Aleteanu. Raised in a vibrant yet often challenging environment, he developed early on the strength, determination, and resourcefulness that would carry him across continents and through every chapter of his life. After completing his schooling in Bucharest, Eugen proudly served in the Romanian military, an experience that helped shape his discipline and resilience.

Following his service, Eugen worked tirelessly, first as a cab driver—earning his EMT certification and working diligently to obtain his International Driver's License—and later as a Maitre D' at an elegant restaurant in Bucharest. Even then, he carried himself with the charm, poise, and natural charisma that would become his hallmark.

During a time of political turmoil in Romania, Eugen made the courageous decision to seek a better life for his family. They fled to Italy, where they spent three years before being sponsored as refugees to the United States. Expecting to arrive in Columbus, Ohio, they instead found themselves in Columbus, Kansas—a twist of fate that Eugen embraced with characteristic determination.

In Kansas, Eugen began again from the ground up, working as a janitor at the GM factory while also holding a second job at a bank. Never one to stand still, he committed himself to learning, taking English and business management classes while working long hours. His perseverance paid off as he rose through the ranks to become a General Manager, helping oversee new technology development—an achievement that reflected both his intelligence and relentless work ethic.

Eventually, Eugen followed his entrepreneurial spirit, opening his own auto repair business. Life's journey took him briefly to Ft. Lauderdale and then back to Wichita, where he built something truly lasting. Alongside his son Justin, Eugen founded All Star Cars, an automotive electrical repair shop that became not only a successful business but a legacy. Today, that legacy continues to grow, expanding to a second location in Denver under Justin's care.

Eugen's talents and ambitions extended far beyond a single venture. A true "jack of all trades," he explored numerous opportunities with enthusiasm and skill—investing in real estate, restoring homes, buying and selling jewelry, and even tending to his small homestead. Among his many passions was his Arabian horse, Egocentric, who proudly earned first place at the Kansas State Fair, a reflection of Eugen's dedication and love for excellence in all things.

In 2007, Eugen met the love of his life, Donna. From that moment on, they were inseparable, building a life filled with companionship, laughter, and unwavering support. They were united in marriage on June 8, 2013, and together they shared a deep and enduring bond.

Beyond his work and accomplishments, Eugen found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life—playing chess, especially with his son Justin, casting a line while fishing, and gathering with friends to share stories, laughter, and good company. He had a gift for making others feel welcome, at ease, and valued. A natural socialite, people were drawn to him instantly. His kindness was genuine, his generosity abundant, and his ability to navigate life with diplomacy and charm was unmatched. Even in disagreement, Eugen led with respect and grace, often finding his way forward not through conflict, but through understanding.

Eugen was also a fighter. In 2015, he was diagnosed with cancer, and when it later metastasized, he faced it with the same strength and determination that had guided his entire life. He refused to let it define him, continuing to work, stay active, and live fully until a car accident in 2025 slowed him physically—but never dimmed his spirit.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and inspiration. Eugen is survived by his devoted wife, Donna; his beloved son and business partner, Justin (Lara); his daughters, Sara (Kamil) and Sahar; his cherished granddaughter, Emilie; his brother, Dorene; his sister, Denisa; his sister-in-law, Jenica; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Marck.

Eugen's life is a testament to what can be built through hard work, courage, and heart. From Romania to Italy to the United States, from humble beginnings to a life of impact and connection, he never stopped striving, never stopped giving, and never stopped believing.

A funeral service will be held at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 12001 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, Missouri, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026. Memorial donations in Eugen's honor may be made to Holy Archangel Michael Skete, 28650 150th St., Weatherby, Missouri.
