GUTHRIE, ELMER RAY, 83 , passed away on June 1, 2022. Elmer was born on June 16, 1938 in Wichita, to Lloyd Rozelle and Ida Pearl {Lacewell} Guthrie. Elmer was a hardworking, straight shooting type of guy. He would tell you exactly how he felt and what he thought, whether you liked it or not. This left him to be known by many as a beloved, ornery old fart.  Elmer had many jobs throughout his life. Before retiring, he ran Guthrie Auto Salvage with the help of his wife and sons.  Even after closing up shop, he would go out of his way to help people find whatever parts they needed. Traveling,  especially camping, ran deep in Elmer's veins. He always wanted to be in the camper, and even as he got older he'd go spend all spring and summer in his camper instead of the house. These things were his favorites because that's how he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His love was his time with his family fishing for weeks on end, and having great big fish fry's for everyone to enjoy. He loved his dogs, especially his chihuahuas, which traveled everywhere with him.

Elmer is survived by his son Daniel and wife Maureen; his grandchildren Brian, John, Kevin, Almedia, William, Jackie, Betty, Josh, Sarah and Megan; 16 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren, and many other family and friends. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife Joelene; sons Jimmie, Billy and Jackie; grandson Paul Ray; parents, and all of his siblings.

A graveside service will be held on June 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Wichita Park Cemetery, 3424 E 21st St N, Wichita.
