ENGE, DOUGLAS PETER, 73 , truck driver, passed away on July 10, 2023, at Robert J. Dole VA Center in Wichita. Doug was born on December 5, 1949, in Windom, Minnesota to Percy Clifford and Mary Louise {Chapman} Enge. At a young age Doug's family moved; first to Davis, California and later to Tempe, Arizona where he graduated from McClintock High. After high school Doug entered the military in the Army where he served in Vietnam and was the only man in his unit to come back home from the war. Once Doug was honorably discharged from the Army, he became somewhat of a nomad driving trucks for a living and making home wherever he was at the time. He met his first wife in 1976 and they had a son Dale whom Doug loved watching The Dukes of Hazards with when Dale was young. The family made their home in Tempe while Doug kept driving trucks, sometimes even taking Dale on his cross-country journeys with him. Later in life Doug came to the Wichita area because of a real good friend where he met Jan on April 1, 2006, and they were wed soon after in December. Doug was a cowboy at heart and loved watching them on television and if the tv wasn't on cowboys he was watching church and growing spiritually. He hauled cattle with his grandson Ronnie, going to the Mulvane Old Settlers Day and Enid rodeo's many times. Doug was a happy person and enjoyed laughing, reading his bible and was a true animal lover but his greatest passion was watching his great grandchildren and playing with them.

Doug is survived by his wife Jan; son Dale Douglas Enge; son in law Larry Charles; daughter in law Lisa Anderson-Matson; daughter by choice Carla Grindstaff, her significant other Ben Parton; sister June Enge Busbice; grandchildren Charlene Marie, Mario Antonio, Rosaura Luella, Elizabeth Victoria, Megan Charles, Ronnie Charles, Alexis Charles-Smith, Kylie Charles, Faith Grindstaff, Hannah Schmidt and Gabby Grindstaff; great grandchildren Adelyn, Zachary, Rylee Ruth, Milo Charles, Jaxson Neal, Magnolia Avery, Nova Grace, Jayved, Paisley, his dogs Molly, and Izzy and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Percy and Mary; brother James Enge; son Jeffery Charles and his beloved dogs; black lab Jake and brittany/lab mix Amber.
