Donna L
Cummings
August 5, 1956 — December 17, 2024
Andover
Donna L. Cummings , a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, at her home in Andover, with her devoted husband, Ron, and her three sons by her side. She was 68 years old.
Born on August 5, 1956, in Monterey, California, to Herbert and Joann (Seiwert) McGreevy, Donna spent most of her early life in Wichita, Kansas. She would consider her second home to be Colorado where she enjoyed countless trips with friends and family. She attended Bishop Carroll High School and met the love of her life, Ron Cummings. Their love story began as high school sweethearts and blossomed into a marriage that lasted 50 years, filled with unwavering devotion and mutual respect.
After graduating high school, Donna pursued a fast-track computer programming course, a visionary decision during the 1970s. She began her career at Pratt & Lambert in 1975. Donna welcomed her first son, Chad, in 1980 and her second son, Shelby, in 1982. In 1987, Donna discovered she was expecting her third son, Kyle, and she embarked on a new chapter as a home daycare provider which she operated until 1998. In 1999, Donna transitioned back into the traditional workforce before retiring in 2021.
Retirement brought Donna immense joy as she embraced her role as Grandma to five beloved grandchildren—Dylan, Kollin, Calvin, Charlotte, and Alexandria. She delighted in attending their events, babysitting, and being an ever-present source of love and encouragement. Donna's newfound freedom also allowed her to support friends, take trips, and savor the simple pleasures of life.
Donna's love for nature and sports mirrored her vibrant personality. She found solace in her garden, cherished the birds that visited her yard, and rooted passionately for the Kansas City Chiefs, Jayhawks, and Shockers. She enjoyed her time at all the car shows she attended with Ron. She loved the cars but it was the people they met and the friendships they created that made them special to her. Above all, Donna's greatest joy was her family. She was a beacon of kindness, never speaking an unkind word, and her selfless love left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Donna is survived by her loving husband, Ron; her three sons, Chad (Amy), Shelby, and Kyle (Erin); and her five cherished grandchildren, Dylan, Kollin, Calvin, Charlotte, and Alexandria; her father, Herb McGreevy; and her sister, Susan McGreevy. She also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Donna was preceded in death by her mother, Joann McGreevy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held to celebrate Donna's life on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 123 N. Andover Rd., Andover. Following the service, Donna will be laid to rest at Bruno Township Cemetery in Andover. A Celebration of Life will be held a Spaulding's Food & Drink, 127 W Central Ave, Andover fallowing the services.
In honor of Donna's compassionate spirit, memorial donations may be made to Victory in the Valley, 3755 E Douglas Ave, Wichita, KS 67218, an organization close to her heart.
Donna's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and generosity. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed but fondly remembered. Her light continues to shine through the love and laughter of her family and friends.
